Application/Service: dip – life beyond lectures (“dip”, “App”, “Service”)
Territory: India
This Terms of Service (“Terms” or “TOS”) is an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and applicable rules. By accessing or using dip, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Standards (together, the “Agreement”). If you do not agree, do not use dip.
Additional Note: “dip” is an independent platform created to enhance student life and campus connectivity. We are not officially affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing any university or college. All university names, logos, or references are used solely for identification and contextual purposes.
1) Grievance Officer (Rule 3(2), IT Rules 2021)

We will acknowledge grievances within 72 hours and resolve them in accordance with applicable Indian law. We cooperate with lawful directions from courts and government agencies and may provide information to lawfully authorized agencies as required. We may retain certain logs/records for legally prescribed periods.
2) Who May Use dip (Eligibility & Territory)
dip is available only in India.
You must be 18 years or older.
You must be a current student or alumni of a recognized Indian college/university.
We may verify status (e.g., college email/OTP, student ID, alumni proof). Misrepresentation may result in immediate suspension or termination.
3) Services
dip provides college-centric community features, including:
Profiles and institute communities (students & alumni)
Confessions and anonymous posting (subject to rules below)
Campus stats, events, and social interactions
Messaging, likes, comments, clubs/groups
Services may change or evolve at any time.
Contacts Access and Usage: By enabling contact access, you allow dip to securely read and store a hashed or encrypted version of your phone contacts. This information is used solely to:
Suggest friends or users you may know on dip; and
Notify individuals in your contact list when they are mentioned or tagged by you in certain in-app features such as compliments or references.
Access to contacts is optional, and you may revoke this permission at any time through your device settings.
dip will never display or share your full contact list publicly, nor send any communication to non-users without your explicit action (e.g., when you tag them) or without providing a clear opt-out option for the recipient.
By continuing to use these features, you confirm that you have the authority to share such contact information for the stated purposes.
4) Accounts
You are responsible for all activity under your account. Keep credentials secure.
Usernames/handles are licensed to you; they remain Company property.
Account deletion is immediate and irreversible upon your request (operational/legal backups and re-shares may persist for limited periods as permitted by law).
5) User Content & License
Ownership. You are the creator of your content.
License. By posting content on dip, you grant the Company a broad, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, create derivative works from, publicly perform, publicly display, transmit, distribute, market, promote, and use your content and associated information for (i) Service operation/improvement and (ii) marketing, lead generation, and promotional purposes. You remain free to share your content elsewhere. You represent and warrant you have all necessary rights to grant this license and that your content complies with law and third-party rights.
6) Confessions & Content Rules
Confessions (special rules). Confessions are for feelings/experiences, not harassment or exposure:
Do not name or uniquely identify private individuals without their explicit consent.
No revenge, “exposé”, vulgar personal attacks, or doxxing.
Abusive confessions or misuse may result in immediate removal and permanent ban.
Prohibited content includes (non-exhaustive):
Illegal content under Indian law (e.g., threats to sovereignty/integrity, terrorism/extremism, content “patently false as fact” when legally notified, child sexual exploitation—zero tolerance).
Harassment, hate speech, sexual exploitation, NCII, credible threats, or incitement to self-harm/violence.
Academic misconduct (you are responsible; the Company is not liable).
IP-infringing content (you are responsible; the Company is not liable).
Doxxing or sharing private data without consent.
Malware, scams, spam, or scraping/automation.
7) Moderation, Reporting & Enforcement
We are not obligated to monitor all content or activity but may act at our discretion or as required by law.
Direct report → action: content/accounts reported by users may be removed or blocked. Multiple independent reports may trigger automatic takedown.
Users may block others.
Egregious violations (e.g., CSAM, NCII, terrorism, credible violent threats) → immediate permanent ban and referral to law enforcement.
No formal appeals; enforcement decisions are final.
8) Safety & Offline Interactions
If you choose to meet someone discovered via dip, meet in public places, inform a friend, and exercise caution. dip is not an emergency or counseling service; call local authorities in emergencies.
9) Intermediary Disclaimer & Safe Harbour (IT Act, 2000)
We are an intermediary under Section 2(w) of the IT Act, 2000.
Under Section 79, we claim safe-harbour protection: we are not liable for user-generated content unless we fail to act upon actual knowledge or lawful court/government orders.
We may remove or disable content at our discretion or as legally required.
No duty to monitor: we are not obligated to pre-screen or actively seek facts indicating unlawful activity. Responsibility for content rests with users.
10) Payments & Premium Features
dip is currently free.
Premium features may be introduced later; pricing and terms will be disclosed in-app at purchase.
Payments (if any) will be handled via app stores or payment gateways; refunds are governed by store/gateway policies and applicable Indian law.
11) Intellectual Property
The App, software, UI, and content compilations are owned by the Company or its licensors and protected by law.
“dip” and “ByteCitadel” are property of ByteCitadel Pvt. Ltd. Third-party names/logos belong to their owners.
You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission.
12) Academic Misconduct & IP Complaints
Academic misconduct: dip does not facilitate or endorse cheating; users are solely responsible for any misuse.
IP complaints: Email support@dipapp.in with (a) your contact details, (b) description of the work, (c) URL/screenshot of the alleged infringement, (d) your good-faith statement, and (e) your signature/attestation. We may remove/disable content as required by law.
13) Limitation of Liability
13.1 General exclusion of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ByteCitadel Pvt. Ltd. (including its directors, employees, officers, agents, partners, suppliers, licensors, and contractors) shall not be liable under contract, tort, strict liability, negligence, or any other legal or equitable theory with respect to the Service for:
Any indirect, incidental, punitive, special, exemplary, or consequential damages of any kind, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of goodwill, opportunity costs, or data loss;
Any reliance by you on the Service, the content therein, or communications originating from the Service;
Any direct damages in excess of INR 5,000 (for India) or USD 150 (outside India) in the aggregate;
Any matter beyond our reasonable control, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
13.2 Specific carve-outs
Without limiting the above, we are not responsible for any consequences arising out of:
a. The Platform or Service being inoperative or non-responsive due to internet or connectivity errors, including but not limited to slow connectivity, server downtime, or system failure;
b. Any incorrect, incomplete, or outdated information or data provided by you;
c. Any deletion, corruption, or loss of data (including confessions, messages, or posts);
d. Any undue delay or inability to communicate through SMS, email, push notifications, or in-app messaging;
e. Any deficiency, defect, or error in the Services managed by the Company;
f. Any failure in the functioning of third-party services or SDKs integrated into the Platform.
13.3 Disclaimer of warranties
The Service, the Platform, and all related materials are provided strictly on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any guarantees, conditions, or warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
13.4 Sole remedy
Your sole and exclusive remedy for any dispute with ByteCitadel regarding the Service is to stop using dip and delete your account.
14) Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ByteCitadel, its officers, employees, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your content; (b) your use of dip; or (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
15) Termination
We may suspend or terminate access at any time, with or without cause or notice. You may request immediate account deletion (irreversible). Provisions that by their nature should survive (e.g., licenses, limitations of liability, indemnity) survive termination.
16) Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
17) Miscellaneous
Force Majeure: No liability for delays/failures beyond our control (e.g., outages, disasters, acts of government).
Assignment: You may not assign your rights/obligations; we may assign ours without notice.
Severability: If any provision is invalid, the remainder remains effective.
No Waiver: Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
Entire Agreement: These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and Community Standards constitute the entire agreement regarding your use of dip.

19) WhatsApp Policy
WhatsApp OTP Authentication:
By registering or logging in via WhatsApp OTP, you agree to receive authentication messages on your registered number.
User Responsibility:
You are responsible for maintaining access to your registered WhatsApp number. Losing access may prevent you from logging in.
No Spam Policy:
We will never use your WhatsApp number for spam or unrelated third-party marketing.
Compliance: All WhatsApp communications are in compliance with Meta’s WhatsApp Business API policies and applicable Indian IT laws.
20) Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app and/or by email. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13) Warranties & Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties (including accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for purpose, non-infringement).
We are not responsible for any consequences arising out of, including but not limited to:
a. the Platform being inoperative/non-responsive due to connectivity issues (e.g., slow/no internet, server failure);
b. incorrect information or data entered by you, or deletion of data;
c. delay or inability to communicate through email or notifications;
d. any deficiency or defect in the Services managed by the Company; and
e. any failure in the functioning of any other Service, feature, or functionality provided by the Company.The Platform accepts no liability for any errors/omissions on its part, or for any damage caused to you, your belongings, or any third party, resulting from use or misuse of the Platform or any Service. The Service and any content/material are provided without guarantees, conditions, or warranties as to accuracy, suitability, completeness, or reliability. We will not be liable for the unavailability or failure of the Platform.
You must comply with all Applicable Laws and all applicable policies incorporated by reference into these Terms.
The Platform expressly excludes liability for any loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable by us and which is incurred by you in connection with the Platform, including loss of profits, and any loss or damage incurred by you as a result of your breach of these Terms.
We are not liable for: user content or misconduct (on or off Platform), academic misconduct, or third-party services/links.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims is capped at ₹10,000 or fees paid by you in the preceding 12 months, whichever is higher.
Your sole and exclusive remedy for any dispute with us is to stop using dip and request account deletion.
14) Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ByteCitadel, its officers, employees, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your content; (b) your use of dip; or (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
